Visitor Agreement

Terms and Conditions of Use of This Web Site

Welcome to Teachers First, a service of Network for Instructional TV, Inc. ("NITV"). Please read this Visitor Agreement; by using this service, you agree to its terms.

The Web is an evolving medium; we may change the terms of this Agreement from time to time. By continuing to use the service after we post notice of any such changes, you agree to accept the new terms.

By registering with Teachers First, or by using the service, you agree that we may use and disclose, as we see fit, consistent with applicable law, any information you provide, or that we obtain, concerning your use of the service.

If you disagree with any material you find on our service, we suggest that you respond by noting your disagreement in an appropriate Teachers First Forum. We also invite you to bring to our attention any material you believe to be inaccurate. Please forward a copy of the material to NITV, 11490 Commerce Park Drive, Reston, VA 20191, along with an explanation of your objection.

If you would like to send Teachers First any other comment or suggestion by e-mail, please click here. Posting a message in a chat session or on a bulletin board is not a good way to communicate directly with us.

Teachers First wants to encourage an open exchange of information and ideas on education and related topics. But we cannot and do not review every posting made in chat sessions, bulletin boards, and other public posting areas. You may well read any given posting before anyone at Teachers First does. You can expect these areas to include information and opinions from a variety of individuals and organizations other than Teachers First. We do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of any posting, regardless of whether the posting comes from a user or from an "expert" guest.

Responsibility for what is posted in chat sessions, bulletin boards, and other public posting areas on Teachers First lies with each user who alone is responsible for material he or she posts. By using Teachers First you agree not to post or transmit any defamatory, abusive, obscene, threatening or illegal material, or any other material that infringes on the ability of others to use Teachers First or that infringes on the rights of others. We retain the right to deny access to anyone who we believe has violated these terms or any other term of this agreement.

Although Teachers First cannot monitor all the postings in chat sessions, bulletin boards, and other public areas, we reserve the right (but assume no obligation) to delete, move, or edit any postings that come to our attention that we consider unacceptable or inappropriate, whether for legal or other reasons. We also reserve the right to disclose electronic messages that are addressed to Teachers First subject to the requirements of the law regarding disclosure of such messages to others, including law enforcement agencies.

Teachers First expects that you will not use this service to violate anyone’s rights in copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property. By submitting material to or posting material on Teachers First, you are representing that you are the owner of the material, or are making your submission with the explicit consent of the owner. Submitting material that is the property of another without the consent of its owner is not only a violation of this agreement, but may also subject you to legal liability for infringement of copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.

Teachers First does not permit solicitation by users, such as advertisements or solicitations for donations. You agree not to use any area of Teachers First to advertise or to solicit anyone to buy or sell products or services, or to make donations of any kind.

By submitting material to Teachers First you are permanently granting Teachers First all rights to the material, including the right to modify the material, to use it commercially, and to maintain the material in an archive.

Although we make Teachers First freely accessible, we don’t intend to give up our rights, or anyone else’s rights, to the materials appearing on the service. The materials available through Teachers First are the property of NITV or its licensors, and are protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. You are free to display and print for your personal, noncommercial and nonprofit use any information you receive through Teachers First. But you may not otherwise reproduce any of the materials without the prior written consent of the owner. You may not distribute copies of materials found on Teachers First in any form (including by e-mail or other electronic means) without prior written permission from the owner. Of course, you’re free to encourage others to access the information themselves on Teachers First and to tell them how to find it.

We welcome links to our service. You are free to establish a hypertext link to this site so long as the link does not state or imply any sponsorship of your site by Teachers First or NITV.

Teachers First believes that, under certain circumstances, framing can be an acceptable (or even useful) device for focusing the research efforts of educators and others using the Web. Accordingly, Teachers First sometimes frames the websites that it recommends, or to which it provides links. Teachers First does not wish, however, to insist on this practice with respect to any website for which the site’s proprietor finds framing objectionable. If you object to Teachers First framing your website, simply send us an e-mail by clicking here, indicating that you object, and providing a return e-mail address or other contact information so that we can confirm your status as proprietor of the website and your objections to framing. In this same spirit, although Teachers First generally will permit this site to be framed by others, we reserve the right to object to framing in any particular circumstances.

We don’t want anyone to be confused as to which materials and services are provided by Teachers First and which aren’t. You may not use any trademark or service mark appearing on Teachers First without the prior written consent of the owner of the mark. "Teachers First" and the Teachers First logo are trademarks of NITV.
